Job Description
About Zego
At Zego, we understand that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It's too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn't reflect how well you actually drive. Since 2016, we have been on a mission to change that by offering the lowest priced insurance for good drivers.
From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are the driving force behind everything we do. We've sold tens of millions of policies and raised over $200 million in funding and picked up numerous awards, including the Insurance Claims Team Of The Year 2024 as awarded at The Insurance Post's Claims & Fraud Awards. And we’re only just getting started.
That’s where you come in...
As a Level 1 Large Loss Handler, you will provide critical support in the management of high-value, complex claims (typically exceeding £100,000). You will be responsible for the "front-end" of the claim: conducting deep-dive investigations, assessing policy indemnity, and coordinating the various moving parts, to ensure a proactive and accurate resolution.
What you will be doing
Analyse the mechanics of the accident (e.g., CCTV, police reports, dashcam) to determine the breach of duty and potential contributory negligence.
Review policy wordings to confirm coverage and evaluate liability based on early evidence and case law.
Evaluate the link between the incident and the injuries sustained. Identify the need for early medical evidence from multi-disciplinary experts (orthopedic, neurological, or psychiatric).
Act as a central point of contact for third-party suppliers, including credit hire suppliers, third party insurers and solicitors.
Work closely with panel solicitors to gather evidence, draft witness statements, and manage the flow of legal disclosure.
Communicate empathetically yet firmly with customers to collect essential documentation, photos, and statements during what is often a traumatic period.
Maintain meticulous records and financial reserves, ensuring that the potential spend on a claim is accurately reflected at all times.
Work closely with the wider Large Loss team, offering assistance where needed.
What you will need to be successful
Ideally, you’ll have experience in a Third Party claims role or have worked as a paralegal dealing with RTA claims.
Knowledge of OIC and MOJ portals is an advantage.
You’ve a borderline-obsessive attention to detail.
You can write in a clear, professional way and aren't afraid to pick up the phone.
You’re resilient, complex claims can be fast-paced and high-pressure
You’re curious, you don't just want to "input data", you want to understand why a claim is being handled a certain way.
